Midnight Tide Abalone Statement Earrings

Larger chips of abalone shell set against a deep black background, bigger pieces than we usually make, because at this scale you can actually see what abalone does. The shell doesn't just shine, it shifts: green, blue, violet, a flash of pink, all of it moving as you move. Black is what makes it visible. Against a pale background the color gets lost; against black it reads like light on water at night.
Because here's the thing about statement earrings most of them are a commitment. These aren't. They're noticeably lighter on the ear than the size suggests, which means you can wear them through dinner, through the evening, through the whole thing, and take them off because you're going to bed and not because you can't stand them anymore.
The frames are rhodium plated brass, so they read as bright silver-tone rather than gold. The post and back are surgical steel sturdy, secure, and comfortable for sensitive ears.
Just over 2 inches from post to bottom. Every crystal is hand-poured in our studio and the shell falls differently every time, so no two pairs are ever the same.

Every piece starts with materials I would wear every day myself. USA made 14k gold filled or sterling silver, natural stones, and pressed flowers I set by hand. Here is exactly what goes into each part.
14k Gold Filled
Gold filled is not plating. A thick layer of solid 14k gold is bonded to a jeweler's brass core under heat and pressure, so the piece carries about 100 times more gold than a thin flash plate. That is why it holds its color through daily wear instead of rubbing thin at the edges.
925 Sterling Silver
Solid sterling, bright and cool against the skin. I also offer an oxidized finish, a soft blackened patina that deepens the look of a stack and sits beautifully next to your gold pieces.
Signature Crystals
This is the part I also make by hand. Semi-precious gemstones, real dried botanicals, and Swarovski crystals, arranged one at a time and sealed under UV stable resin that stays glass-clear rather than yellowing. Because the elements are natural, no two are ever exactly alike.

I make every piece to order in my studio here in Florida. Small differences in flower placement, stone color, or the depth of a crystal are part of the design, not a flaw.
